The Gleaning Network needs volunteers in Kent on 10 May. We work to rescue
healthy, edible food that would otherwise go to waste in the fields, and we
redistribute it to food poverty causes like homeless hostels. And this month we
need your help!
We've found thousands of leeks going to waste on a farm
near Wye in Kent. On Saturday 10th May, we'll be going on a mission to save as
many as possible of these tasty delicacies for charity. All produce is going via
our good friends Community Food Enterprises, FareShare and Food For All to
charities dealing with food poverty, as well as to Catching Lives in
Canterbury.
It's also a really fun way to volunteer - a nice day out in
good company in beautiful Kentish farmland - and really satisfying to see the
huge amount of good food you are rescuing.
Saturday 10th May 10am-5pm
(TBC). Travel expenses paid from Kent and nearby (just ask us
first).
Contact gavin@feeding5k.org to volunteer or for more info - join
the Glean Revolution!
If you can't join us this time, sign up to our
gleaning list to be the first to find out about our next gleaning day near you -
gleaning is spreading all over the UK!
